Depressed mood, reduced energy

Depression

Depressed mood, reduced energy, and diminished interest constitute the core symptoms of depression, while accompanying symptoms encompass a range of psychological and physiological manifestations, including diminished self-esteem, self-reproach, difficulties in thought processes and concentration, suicidal ideation, sleep disturbances, and changes in appetite.

Depressive symptoms can be intricate and exhibit significant variation among individuals. If you are afflicted by depression, you may experience feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities. Younger children might express their emotions through anger or irritability, whereas adults often appear withdrawn, despondent, and fatigued. Furthermore, children may manifest depression through physical symptoms such as stomachaches or headaches.

These symptoms typically endure for weeks or months and are severe enough to disrupt your work, social life, and familial relationships. There are several other symptoms of depression, and it is unlikely that you would experience all of those listed on this page.
